Happy National Awkward Moments Day. It’s supposed to encourage you to NOT be so embarrassed, because they happen to everyone. A recent poll looked at various awkward situations. On a scale from 1 to 10, over a third of people gave all of these at least a 7.
1. Gossiping about someone over text. Then you realize you texted THEM
2. Watching a movie with your parents, and there’s a sex scene.
3. Clogging a toilet. Like at someone’s house, and you can’t find a plunger.
4. Telling a joke, and nobody laughs.
5. Tripping, falling, or stumbling in public.
6. Asking someone for money, because they haven’t paid you back.
7. Forgetting someone’s name.
8. Hearing a recording of your own voice.
The top ways we react to awkward moments include avoiding eye contact . . . an uncomfortable laugh or smile . . . fidgeting . . . blushing . . . and LEAVING also made the top five. When things get too awkward, we might just opt to get the heck out of there.
