Could your super-thoughtful Valentine’s Day gift BACKFIRE on you? Be careful if it’s your FIRST Valentine’s Day together.
People were asked to name the top things that might scare someone off early in a relationship. And going too big on Valentine’s Day made the list at #11.
Here are the Top 10 things that can come on too strong early in a relationship.
1. Talking about baby names. (Maybe wait until your SECOND date for that.)
2. Talking about moving in together before you’ve even seen their place.
3. Blurting out “I love you” too soon.
4. Telling other people you’re a “couple” before you’ve agreed on that term.
5. Calling them your “soulmate.”
6. Asking to meet their parents.
7. Getting upset if they don’t respond to your texts right away.
8. Asking to leave a toothbrush at their place, but you just started hooking up.
9. Referring to their pet as “our” pet when talking to other people.
10. Posting too many photos of the two of you on social media.
A few more that just missed the Top 10: Showering someone with too many gifts . . . making a photo of them your home screen . . . planning a vacation . . . and changing your relationship on social media too soon.
Going too big on Valentine’s Day was 11th on the list. But over half of single people think it’s hard to strike the right balance on Valentine’s Day early on. You want to do something, but you don’t want to do too much.
