Shilo Sanders not invited to NFL Combine
Shilo Sanders has laughed off suggestions that he should give up on making it in the NFL after he was not invited to the scouting combine.
More than 50 defensive backs have been invited to the combine, which begins at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this week, but the Colorado safety was not among them. His brother, Sheduer, is in contention to be the No. 1 overall pick, but Shilo faces an uphill battle to have his name called at all at the NFL Draft in Green Bay in April.
Shilo was an important part of a much-improved Colorado defense under the leadership of his father, Deion, last season. The Buffs went 9-4 and narrowly missed out on a spot in the Big 12 championship game. The senior finished the season with 45 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.
The 25-year-old, however, has plenty of work to do to prove to scouts that he is worthy of a draft pick. While some analysts believe he will command a day-three pick, others expect Shilo to go undrafted.
With the news that he is not among the 329 players invited to the combine, Shilo says trolls have been in his mentions telling him to give up on his dreams and follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Deion Jr., who produces video and social media content for his siblings and father under the banner of Well Off Media.
“Got a new camera,” Shilo said in a video uploaded to the channel. “Everybody is like ‘Time to pick up the camera. You didn’t get invited to the combine, time to pick up the camera like your brother.’ Bro, if you all knew how much Bucky [Deion Jr.] makes, y’all wouldn’t be saying that because that is actually a solid career.”
Despite not being invited to the combine, he will still have the chance to impress talent evaluators at Colorado’s pro day – the date for which has not yet been confirmed. Shilo has enlisted the help of Zybek Sports, the company that times the 40-yard dash at the combine, to provide technology identical to that used in Indianapolis.
“I didn’t get invited to the combine, but I brought the combine to me,” Shilo said. Shedeur will also focus his efforts on the pro day, too, with the quarterback not taking part in any drills in Indianapolis this week, focusing only in team interviews.
