Michael B. Jordan Takes on Vampires and Jim Crow South in Sinners
Michael B. Jordan takes on double duty in Sinners, the latest film from director Ryan Coogler. In the supernatural drama, Jordan plays twin brothers Smoke and Stack—World War I veterans who return to their Mississippi hometown with dreams of opening a juke joint. But instead of peace, they’re met with bloodthirsty vampires and the brutal realities of Jim Crow-era America.
Speaking with ABC News, Jordan shared how the project pushed him into new territory.
“I’d never done a horror movie before, and playing twins on top of that... the mix of it all made the experience really unique and special for me,” he said.
Hailee Steinfeld, who stars as Mary—one of the brothers’ love interests—had high praise for Jordan’s performance.
“I was in awe the whole time,” she said. “Michael moved so effortlessly between the two characters, all while keeping the energy up on set. He really set the tone for all of us.”
Sinners, now playing in theaters worldwide, marks the fifth collaboration between Jordan and Coogler, following Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
